Latin America on Tour: Trade versus Poverty
Fair trade is one of the millennium development goals formulated by the United Nations. However, western countries are strongly committed to securing free trade agreements with developing countries which mainly focus on removing trade barriers and stimulating foreign investments. Is the aim of promoting fair trade in line with the trade policy of the EU? Can free trade eradicate poverty? How can trade policies contribute in achieving the millennium development goals?
LA Ruta challenges you to discuss this issue with prominent activists, policymakers, and academics.
