Equal rights and opportunities for men and women concerning education, employment and political positions' states one of the millennium development goals. One may question if these are the most important problems facing women in Latin America. Does the United Nations gender policy match with the social reality of women in Latin America? Could the millennium development goals offer an answer to gender related problems in Latin America?
